What is the Peer to Peer Grant?

The peer to peer grant provides training for individuals with developmental disabilities to advocate for their own rights and interests. People learn to make their own decisions and choose supports and services that allow them to live the life they choose.

Person-Centered Plans

The local coordinators will assist individuals with developmental disabilities to create person-centered plans to improve their lives so they can live the life they choose. Contact the local coordinators in your area for more information.

Workshops

The Peer to Peer grant conducts interactive self advocacy workshops on Self-Advocacy, Healthy Relationships, Employment Transition, and Person Centered Planning. Peer to Peer staff will help you learn how you can make a difference in your own life!

Leadership Academy

The Project will hold regional leadership academies to train individuals with disabilities to be self advocate leaders in their local community. This is a more intense training that will build on the self-advocacy workshops. The Academies will provide individuals with the tools necessary to make a difference.

The Peer to Peer Project is funded in part by the Texas DD Council. TCDD is awarded monies by the Administration on Developmental Disabilities, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Aproximately 93% ($200,000) in federal funds are allocated for P2P Project for Fiscal Year 2005-2008 with an estimated match of 7% ($37,921) in non-federal funds.
