When is the Conference?

Thursday August 22 and Friday Aug 23rd.


What is the Schedule?
Thursday - Hotel room check-in begins at 4pm in the hotel lobby. Registration check-in opens at 4pm on Thursday Aug 22nd at the Registration Desk in the Kalahari Conference Center. 

Friday - We will meet for breakfast in the conference ballroom bright and early Friday morning. Workshops will follow in the break-out rooms. We will then all meet back in the ballroom for lunch and the lunch speaker. Another variety of workshops available following lunch. Take this opportunity to meet the Exhibitors! Enjoy a little downtime to hang out with friends and then finally meet back in the ballroom for dinner and the keynote AND celebrate another fun conference dancing the night away!

Saturday - No conference activities. Breakfast on your own. Hotel room checkout at 11am in the hotel lobby.


What's on the menu?
Remember, there are over 350 people attending the conference and the hotel only allows a limited number of options for each meal. Not everyone will like everything on the menu, but we hope that there is at least one item at each meal you will enjoy. 

Due to high cost, there will not be juice or tea at every meal. You may bring a special drink with you if you choose.

Is there a fun night?

This year's fun night will be Choose Your Adventure. Kalahari has lots of fun waiting for you once you arrive. Options include dinner at one of several restaurants, having fun at Tom Foolery’s, splashing in the waterpark, or enjoying one of the other many fun things Kalahari has to offer.

Remember each room includes four waterpark passes!


Does the hotel have a restaurant?

Yes, Kalahari has MANY  restaurants to choose from as well as a marketplace, lounge, and coffee shop

Who can check in for the Chapter?

The registration desk gets pretty crowded if the entire chapter walks up to register. It blocks the hallway. We prefer that one or two people come up and let us know who all is in attendance and pickup their bags and shirts.


What is the dress code for the banquet?

We encourage you to dress nicely for the banquet. It is our way of celebrating and making the evening feel special. Dress in your "Easter Sunday best", as some would say. For Example, wear a shirt and dress pants/ jeans, dress, skirt/shirt, pants suit, etc. No conference t-shirts, please.


What do I wear on Friday during the workshops?

Most people dress casually and comfortably i.e. jeans, shorts, capris, t-shirts, or even your conference shirt. If you are presenting you should do business casual. Remember meeting rooms are a little chilly so you should bring a sweater or light jacket.

 

What time does check-in start?

Check in starts at 4:00 PM. You can check in at the main hotel check in desk. You will have access to the waterpark beginning at 12:00 noon the day you check in. Be sure to pack your swimsuit separately if you plan to check in early. 


 


Do I need to tip at the Bars and Restaurants?

Yes. Tipping is strongly encouraged and usually considered a requirement. In the restaurants, please tip a minimum of 20% of the bill. When drinking at the bar please tip at least $ 1.00 or 2.00 per drink. IF YOU ARE UNSURE ON HOW MUCH TO TIP-ASK A FRIEND, ADVISOR OR TEXAS ADVOCATES STAFF! 


Can I buy extra Banquet tickets?

Yes. If you would like to buy extra tickets for Friday night dinner and banquet, email Deborah how many tickets. Price is TBD.
